Environment (Northern Ireland) Order 2002: Commencement Order No. 2

The Department of the Environment has made a Commencement Order entitled, Environment (Northern Ireland) Order (2002 Order) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 (SR 113 (C.8)).

This Order should be read in conjunction with Environment (Northern Ireland) Order (2002 Order) (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2003 (SR 49 (C.3)) which brought provisions into operation relating to the arrangements for the declaration of Areas of Special Scientific Interest, the notification of owners and occupiers, and related matters concerned with their protection and management.

This Order brings Part III of Schedule 5 (together with so much of Article 53(1) as relates thereto) and Part II of Schedule 6 (together with so much of Article 53(2) as relates thereto) of the Environment (Northern Ireland) Order 2002 into operation on 28th February 2003. The provisions brought into operation provide for the consequential and minor amendments in part III of Schedule 5 to have effect and for the statutory provisions in Part II of Schedule 6 to be repealed.
