Code of Practice (Industrial Action Ballots and Notice to Employers) (Appointed Day) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002 – S.R. No. 345
Notice is hereby given that the Department for Employment and Learning, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 95(5) and (14) and Article 107(3) of the Industrial Relations (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 and now vested in it and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, has made a Statutory Rule entitled the Code of Practice (Industrial Action Ballots and Notice to Employers) (Appointed Day) Order (Northern Ireland) 2002 – S.R. No. 345.
This Statutory Rule brings into operation the Department’s new Code of Practice on Industrial Action Ballots and Notice to Employers. The Code takes account of current legislative provisions on industrial action ballots and aims to help employers, workers and their representatives by giving practical guidance on the conduct of such ballots. It also provides guidance on statutory rights and seeks to ensure that appropriate action is taken to resolve disputes, prior to industrial action.
The Code of Practice, approved by the Northern Ireland Assembly on 14th October, 2002, which is subject to the negative resolution, procedure, came into operation on 1st December, 2002.
