THE OXFORD STREET GLA ROADS AND GLA SIDE ROADS (CITY OF WESTMINSTER) WAITING AND LOADING TRAFFIC ORDER (NO.2) 2026
1. Transport for London, hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Orders under section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
2. The general nature and effect of the Orders will:
(1) adopt all the waiting and loading restrictions on A40 Oxford Street between its junctions with Old Quebec Street and Tottenham Court Road;
(2) prescribe that all vehicles must proceed in a westerly direction only on A40 Oxford Street between its junctions with Davies Street and Duke Street;
(3) prescribe that all vehicles must proceed in an easterly direction only on A40 Oxford Street between its junctions with Stratford Place and Holles Street;
(4) prescribe that all vehicles must proceed in a westerly direction only on A40 Oxford Street between its junctions with John Prince’s Street and Holles Street;
(5) prohibit all vehicles from proceeding, waiting or loading on the A40 Oxford Street between its junctions with Orchard Street / North Audley Street and Duke Street;
(6) prohibit all vehicles, except for loading between midnight and 7:00 AM from proceeding on the A40 Oxford Street between its junctions with Duke Street and John Prince’s Street. Traffic will be permitted to cross Oxford Street at its junctions with Stratford Place and Davies Street, Vere Street and New Bond Street, Holles Street and Harewood Place;
(7) prohibit all vehicles from proceeding, waiting or loading on the A40 Oxford Street between its junctions with John Prince’s Street and Portland Place. Traffic on Regent Street will be permitted to cross Oxford Street;
(8) prohibit all vehicles, except for loading between midnight and 7:00 AM from proceeding on John Prince’s Street between a point 10 metres north-west of the extended southern building line of No. 242 Oxford Street and its junction with the A40 Oxford Street.
(9) prohibit all vehicles from proceeding, waiting or loading on Binney Street. between a point 6 metres south of the extended northern building line of Nos. 407 to 409 Oxford Street and its junction with the A40 Oxford Street;
(10) prohibit all vehicles from proceeding, waiting or loading on James Street between a point 8 metres north of the extended southern building line of Nos. 372 to 374 Oxford Street and its junction with the A40 Oxford Street;
(11) prohibit all vehicles from proceeding, waiting or loading on Gilbert Street between a point 6.75 metres south of the extended northern building line of Nos. 399 to 403 Oxford Street and its junction with the A40 Oxford Street;
(12) prohibit waiting at any time and loading between 7:00 AM and Midnight on the A40 Oxford Street between its junctions with Orchard Street and with Duke Street and John Prince’s Street. Waiting and loading will be prohibited on the A40 Oxford Street either side of its junctions with Stratford Place and Davies Street, Vere Street and New Bond Street, Holles Street and Harewood Place;
(13) revoke the prescribed left turn from A40 Oxford Street onto Stratford Place;
(14) revoke the prescribed left turn from A40 Oxford Street onto Davies Street;
(15) revoke the banned left turn from A40 Oxford Street onto Vere Street;
(16) adopt the restrictions on site as listed below:

3. The roads which would be affected by the Orders are the A40 GLA Roads and Side Roads – Oxford Street, Berners Street, Berwick Street, Binney Street, Davies Street, Duke Street, Great Portland Street, Hanway Street, Hill Place, Holles Street, John Prince’s Street, Newman Street, North Audley Street, Orchard Street, Park Street, Poland Street, Portman Street, Rathbone Place, Regent Street, Stratford Place, Soho Street, Vere Street, Wardour Street, Wells Street and Winsley Street in the City of Westminster
4. A copy of the Order, a statement of Transport for London’s reasons for the proposals, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and copies of any Order revoked, suspended or varied by the Order can be inspected by visiting our website at https://haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/tro and selecting the relevant borough and reference the Traffic Order relates to or by appointment during normal office hours at our office at the address below. To arrange an appointment please email trafficordersection@tfl.gov.uk. Copies of the documents may be requested via email at trafficordersection@tfl.gov.uk, or by post at the following address below quoting reference, NP/SNO/REGULATION/STOT/LL/TRO/GLA/2026/0278, 0317, 0324, 483 and 484.
5. All objections and other representations to the proposed Order must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. Objections and representations must be sent to Transport for London, Streets Traffic Order Team, Palestra, 197 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NJ or by emailing trafficordersection@tfl.gov.uk quoting reference NP/SNO/REGULATION/STOT/LL/TRO/GLA/2026/0278, 0317, 0324, 0483 and 0484 to arrive before 29th May 2026.
