The Department for Communities has made a Statutory Rule entitled the Welfare Supplementary Payment (Universal Credit) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2025 (S.R. 2025 No. 60),which comes into operation on 20th March 2025.

These regulations provide a statutory basis for Welfare Supplementary Payments for those impacted by the benefit cap, the time limiting of contributory employment and support allowance, loss of carer’s allowance / carer premium or loss of disability-related premiums to be paid to eligible people who are claiming Universal Credit and for those who move to Universal Credit in the future.
