BY THE KING A PROCLAMATION ALTERING THE PROCLAMATIONS OF THE TWENTY-FIRST DAY OF FEBRUARY 2024, THE THIRTEENTH DAY OF MARCH 2024 AND THE TENTH DAY OF JULY 2024 TO DETERMINE A NEW DESIGN FOR TWO POUND SILVER COINS; A NEW STANDARD WEIGHT FOR FIVE THOUSAND POUND GOLD COINS; AND A NEW REMEDY FOR TEN POUND SILVER COINS CHARLES R.

Whereas under section 3(1)(b), (c), (cc), and (h) of the Coinage Act 1971 We have power, with the advice of Our Privy Council, by Proclamation to determine the design of coins to be made at Our Mint, to determine the weight and fineness of certain gold coins, the remedy to be allowed in the making of such coins and their least current weight, and to determine the weight and composition of coins other than gold coins or coins of silver of Our Maundy money, and the remedy to be allowed in the making of such coins, and to alter any Proclamation previously made under the said section:

And Whereas by Our Proclamations dated the twenty-first day of February 2024, the thirteenth day of March 2024 and the tenth day of July 2024 We determined, among other matters, the design of certain two pound silver coins, the standard weight of certain five thousand pound gold coins and the remedy to be allowed in the making of certain ten pound silver coins:

And Whereas it appears to Us desirable to determine a new design for the said two pound silver coins, a new standard weight for the said five thousand pound gold coins and a new remedy to be allowed in the making of the said ten pound silver coins:

We, therefore, in pursuance of the said section 3(1)(b), (c), (cc) and (h), and of all other powers enabling Us in that behalf, do hereby, by and with the advice of Our Privy Council, proclaim, direct and ordain as follows:

1. In paragraph 3(4) of Our said Proclamation of the twenty-first day of February 2024, for ‘Our effigy with the inscription “· CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 2 POUNDS ·” and the date of the year, and for the reverse either:’ there shall be substituted ‘Our effigy with the inscription “· CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 2 POUNDS ·” and for the reverse either:’.

2. In paragraph 1(1) of Our said Proclamation of the thirteenth day of March 2024, for ‘being a coin of a standard weight of 5015.01 grammes’ there shall be substituted ‘being a coin of a standard weight of 5030 grammes’.

3. In paragraph 4(2)(b) of Our said Proclamation of the tenth day of July 2024, for ‘a variation from the said standard diameter of 0.125 millimetres per coin’ there shall be substituted ‘a variation from the said standard diameter of 0.18 millimetres per coin’.

4. This Proclamation shall come into force on the seventh day of November Two thousand and twenty-four.
