BEDFORD STREET, GREAT MARLBOROUGH STREET AND LONG ACRE
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council on 22nd April 2024 made the following Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended:
• The City of Westminster (Motorcycle Parking Places) (Amendment No. 137) Order 2024;
• The City of Westminster (Parking Places) (G Zone) (Amendment No. 82) Order 2024;
• The City of Westminster (Taxi Rank) (Amendment No. 73) Order 2024; and
• The City of Westminster (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No. 534) Order 2024.
2. The general effect of the Orders will be to:
(a) on Bedford Street:,
(i) reconfigure the parking provisions outside Nos. 10 and 14 to provide two 5-metre motorcycle bays and a 15-metre residents’ parking place (5 metres of double yellow line “at any time” waiting and loading restrictions outside No. 14 will be removed);
(ii) introduce a taxi rank (no stopping “at any time” except taxis) outside Nos. 31 and 32, replacing 10 metres of residents’ parking (5 metres of residents’ parking will be retained outside No. 32 and 33); and
(iii) introduce a motorcycle parking bay outside No. 33, replacing 5 metres of double yellow line “at any time” waiting and loading restrictions;
(b) on Great Marlborough Street:
(i) introduce two pay-by-phone parking bays outside Nos. 19 to 21, replacing 12 metres of taxi rank (no stopping “at any time” except taxis); and
(ii) convert the 25-metre loading bay outside Liberty House, No. 25, to a dual-use loading bay / taxi rank allowing the bay to be used as a “no stopping” taxi rank between 11.00 a.m. and midnight (there will be no change to the times or controls of the loading bay); and
(c) on Long Acre, convert the 12-metre goods vehicle loading bay outside Boots, Nos. 107 to 115, to a dual-use goods vehicle loading bay / taxi rank allowing the bay to be used as a “no stopping” taxi rank between midnight and 8.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. and midnight on Mondays to Saturdays (there will be no change to the times or controls of the goods vehicle loading bay).
3. The Orders, which will come into force on 29th April 2024, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection until 3rd June 2024 at https://westminstertransportationservices.co.uk/notices and, in person by appointment only, at Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QP, between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays (except bank / public holidays). 4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks from the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
