ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE GLA ROADS AND GLA SIDE ROADS (LONDON BOROUGH OF LEWISHAM AND ROYAL BOROUGH OF GREENWICH) (20 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2023

1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that on 11th December 2023 it made the above named Order, under section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The Order will come into force on 18th December 2023.

2. The general nature and effect of the Order would be to impose a speed limit of 20 MPH speed limit on the A2 Old Kent Road/ New Cross Road/ Kender Street/ Lewisham Way/ Amersham Road/ Parkfield Road, the A20 Eltham Road/ Lee High Road/ Lee Bridge/ Lewisham High Street/ Loampit Vale/ Loampit Hill, the A202 Besson Street/ Queen’s Road and A205 Devonshire Road/ Waldram Crescent/ Waldram Park Road/ Sunderland Road/ Lordship Lane/ London Road/ Plassy Road/ Rushey Green/ Sangley Road/ Stanstead Road/ Catford Hill/ Catford Road and all GLA Roads and GLA Side Road extents in the London Borough of Lewisham.

The Order will also introduce a 20 MPH speed limit on a section of the A20 Eltham Road between the Borough boundary between Greenwich and Lewisham and Sheldon Close and on the A2 Deptford Bridge and all GLA Roads and GLA Side Road extents in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.

The Order will also consolidate existing 20 MPH schemes on A2 New Cross Road and A21 Rushey Green/ Lewisham High Street/ Molesworth Street in the London Borough of Lewisham.

3. The roads which would be affected by the Order are GLA Main Roads and all GLA Side Roads - Red Route returns of these roads in the London Borough of Lewisham.

4. The roads affected are currently subject to a permanent speed limit of 30 MPH.

5. A copy of the Order, a map indicating the location and effect of the Order and copies of any Order(s) revoked, suspended or varied by the Order can be inspected by appointment at our offices at the address below by emailing trafficordersection@tfl,gov.uk. Please note due to Hybrid working access to post is restricted and requests for documents may be delayed.

6. Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that they are not within the relevant powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order is made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
