THE LONDON BOROUGH OF BARKING AND DAGENHAM (BANNED TURN) (REEDE ROAD) EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham in exercise of its powers under Sections 9, 10, 122 (1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended (hereinafter called “the Act”) as amended by the relevant provisions of the Local Government Act 1985 the Parking Act 1989 and of all other enabling legislation and powers and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act made the above Order.

The general effect of the Order will be as an experiment, to:

1. Introduce a prohibition of Right Turn restriction during the hours of 8.00am to 10.00am and 4.30pm to 7.00pm, Monday to Saturday from Reede Road eastbound lane into the private access for the car park area of Lidl / Iceland on the south side of Reede Road 38 metres east of its junction with Heathway.

A copy of the proposed Traffic Orders, which will come into force on Thursday 19th May 2022 and a statement of the Council’s reasons for making this experimental Order are available to view on the Councils website by visiting the following web page https://www.lbbd.gov.uk/parking and selecting ‘New and proposed traffic and parking schemes’.

The Order provides that in pursuance of section 10(2) of the Act, the specified officer may, if it appears essential in the interests of the expeditious, convenient and safe movement of traffic on the highway or for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Order runs, modify or suspend the Order or any of its provisions.

The Order is to be on an experimental basis for a maximum period of 18 months and the Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely by means of a permanent Order made under sections 6 and 124 of the Act, as amended. Any person may object to the making of the permanent Order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation within a period of six months beginning with the day on which the above-mentioned Order came into operation or, if the Order is varied by other Orders, beginning with the day on which the latest variation or modification came into operation. Any such objection must be made in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and be sent for the attention of Sarah Marriott-Carle to the address below or to www.lbbd.gov.uk/tmo-feedback, quoting ref 10351 - Reede Road. Any objection may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
