THE ROYAL BOROUGH OF KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA

TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990, SECTION 249

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (“the Council”) hereby gives notice of a proposed variation to The Conversion of Highways into Footpaths or Bridleways (London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea) (No.2) Order 1983 under S249 of the Town and Country Planning Act (1990).

The proposed variation is to authorise amendments to the permitted exemptions within Schedule 1 of the Order and described in the below Schedule. The proposed amendments would affect that part of Norland Road from a point 3 metres north-west of the south-eastern kerb-line of Queensdale Road (eastern south-west to north-east arm) southwards to its termination.

During the period ending 13 October 2021 a copy of the draft Variation Order along with any relevant plans or maps may be inspected free of charge by contacting Traffic@RBKC.gov.uk or may be obtained by post from the Council offices at 37 Pembroke Road, London, W8 6PW by quoting reference number PO/21/01.

During the period ending on 13 October 2021 any person may object to the making of the order by e-mailing Traffic@RBKC.gov.uk or in writing to the Director of Streets and Regulatory Services, Room 308, Council Offices, 37 Pembroke Road, London, W8 6PW, quoting the above reference number.

SCHEDULE

Proposed variation to exemptions:

1. Where the vehicle is a bicycle

2. Where the vehicle is a vehicle of any description and is using the highway:-

a. For Police, ambulance, or fire brigade purposes.

b. With the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform

c. In accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed pursuant to section 66 or 67 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

d. For the service of any statutory undertaker in an emergency

e. With the written permission of the Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea or its representative, provided that any conditions or requirements they may impose are being complied with.
