SAVOY STREET AND STRAND CYCLE ROUTE

THE CITY OF WESTMINSTER (PRESCRIBED ROUTES) (NO. *) TRAFFIC ORDER 202*

THE CITY OF WESTMINSTER (WAITING AND LOADING RESTRICTION) (AMENDMENT NO. *) ORDER 202*

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council proposes to make the above Orders under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The general effect of the Orders would be to:

(a) exempt pedal cycles from the banned right turn from:

• Savoy Street into Strand; and

• Strand into Lancaster Place;

(b) introduce one-way working north-westbound in Savoy Street, between its junctions with Savoy Row and Strand, with a mandatory contraflow cycle lane on the north-east side;

(c) introduce double yellow line “at any time” waiting and loading restrictions on both sides of Savoy Street, between its junction with Strand and a point 7.5 metres south-east of its junction with Savoy Row; and

(d) introduce “at any time” loading restrictions:

• on the north-east side of Burleigh Street at its junction with Strand;

• on the north-west side of Strand, between its junctions with Burleigh Street and Wellington Street; and

• on the south-east side of Strand, between its junctions with Savoy Street and Lancaster Place.

The above measures, together with the introduction of traffic signals at the junction between Savoy Street and Strand, would facilitate cycle movements from Cycle Superhighway 3 (Victoria Embankment) to Quietway 1 (Wellington Street).

3. The proposed Orders and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which either the Orders are made or the Council decides not to make the Orders at http://westminstertransportationservices.co.uk/notices. Please note that documents will not be available for inspection in person until further notice.

4. Further information may be obtained by telephoning the Council’s agents, WSP, telephone number (020) 3057 2156.
