TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

THE HAMMERSMITH AND FULHAM (SOUTH FULHAM LOW TRAFFIC NEIGHBOURHOOD) (EASTERN SIDE) (EXPERIMENTAL) (PRESCRIBED ROUTES) ORDER 2020

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham on 8th July 2020 made the above Order under sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order will come into force on 20th July 2020 and may continue in force for up to 18 months.

2. The general effect of the above-named order will be to prohibit as an experiment any motor vehicle to proceed in any length of the streets specified in the schedules to this notice.

3. The controls specified in article 2 will not apply in respect of a vehicle being in any length of the restricted streets –

(a) with a valid permit;

(b) being a bus, local bus, taxi and pedal cycle;

(c) in the pursuance of any statutory duty of the Post Office for the purpose of collecting or delivering letters provided the vehicle bears the Royal Mail delivery;

(d) in connection with the removal of any obstruction to traffic in the restricted streets;

(e) in connection with the maintenance, improvement or reconstruction of any of the restricted streets or any street furniture in the restricted streets;

(f) in connection with the laying, erection, alteration or repair in or near the restricted street of any sewer or of any main, pipe or apparatus for the supply of gas, water or electricity, or of any telecommunications apparatus as defined in paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 2 of the Telecommunications Act 1984 in any restricted street;

(g) if it is being used for ambulance, fire brigade or police purposes.

4. The controls specified in article 2 will not apply in respect of a vehicle being in any length of the restricted streets in Schedule 2 to this order and being used: -

(a) to enable a person to board or alight from the vehicle or load thereon or unload therefrom their personal luggage;

(b) for the purpose of delivering or collecting goods or loading or unloading the vehicle at adjoining premises.

5. A copy of the Orders and of documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive from the date on which this notice is published until the order ceases to have effect, at the offices of:

Transport Policy, Highways, Parks and Waste, Town Hall Extension, King Street, Hammersmith, W6 9JU

6. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Orders or any of the provisions therein on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any regulations made thereunder, may, within 6 weeks of the Orders being made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
