EXPERIMENTAL PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES OUTSIDE SCHOOLS
IVOR GROVE, CASTLEFORD AVENUE, INVICTA ROAD, SIEBERT ROAD, INDUS ROAD AND NIGERIA ROAD
THE GREENWICH (PROHIBITION OF MOTOR VEHICLES) (SCHOOL STREETS NO.1 2020) EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER 2020
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the Royal Borough of Greenwich (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) has made the above-mentioned Order under sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended and will come into operation on 1st June 2020.
2. The general effect of the Order would be, on an experimental basis, to prohibit any motorised vehicle entering certain streets near the schools listed below during Monday - Friday 8:00 - 9:30am and 3:00 - 4:00pm, during term time:
a) Wyborne School
i) Ivor Grove for its entire length
ii) Castleford Avenue for its entire length
b) Invicta School
i) Invicta Road for its entire length
ii) Siebert Road for its entire length
c) Charlton Manor School
i) Indus Road from its junction with Hornfair Road to its junction with Charlton Dene
ii) Nigeria Road for its entire length
3. This will be enforced by means of a series of drop-down bollards, which will allow accredited vehicles, disabled badge holders and emergency vehicles access during their hours of operation, at the following locations:
a) Ivor Grove at the junction of Footscray Road
b) Castleford Avenue at the junction of Cambridge Green
c) Invicta Road at the junction of Charlton Road
d) Siebert Road at the roundabout on Westcombe Hill
e) Indus Road at the junction of Hornfair Road
f) Indus Road at the junction of Charlton Dene
g) Nigeria Road at the junction of Hornfair Road
4. To view a copy of the Order and/or a statement of the Council’s reasons for making this experimental Order please email Traffic.Team@royalgreenwich.gov.uk
5. The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be continued in force indefinitely by means of a permanent Order made under section 6 of the Act, as amended. Any person may object to the making of the permanent Order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation within a period of six months beginning with the day on which the above-mentioned Order came into operation or, if the Order is varied by other Orders, beginning with the day on which the latest variation or modification came into operation. Any such objection must be made by email to Traffic.Team@royalgreenwich.gov.uk or in writing if this is not possible to the Traffic Team, The Woolwich Centre, 35 Wellington Street, SE18 6HQ (quoting reference 05-20 School Streets No.1). Any objection may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
