THE STOPPING UP OF HIGHWAYS (LAND AT TAFARNAUBACH INDUSTRIAL ESTATE, TREDEGAR, BLAENAU GWENT) ORDER 2019

The Welsh Ministers have made an Order under section 247 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 (“the Act”) to authorise the stopping up of the length of highway described in Schedule 1 to this Notice and to improve the lengths of highway described in Schedule 2 to this Notice. The stopping up is authorised only in order to enable the development described in Schedule 3 to this Notice to be carried out.

The Stopping Up of Highways (Land at Tafarnaubach Industrial Estate, Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent) Order 2019 (“the Order”) ceases to have effect if planning permission in respect of the development expires or is revoked.

Copies of the Order and the deposited plan may be inspected free of charge during normal opening hours at Tredegar Library, The Circle, Tredegar NP22 3PS or may be obtained free of charge from the address below quoting reference qA1349706/1.

If a person is aggrieved by the Order, on the ground that:

a. it is not within the powers of the Act; or

b. a procedural requirement of the Act has not been complied with;

that person may, within 6 weeks of 12 June 2019 make an application for the purpose to the High Court.

SCHEDULE 1

Description of the length of highway to be stopped up under this Order

A rectangular length of highway with a maximum length of 119 metres and a maximum width of 11.5 metres that extends in a south-easterly direction from a point south of the workshops to a point south-west of the customer car park and showroom of the premises of Ron Skinner & Sons Car Sales, adjacent highway and former Unit 6A Tafarnaubach, Tredegar.

SCHEDULE 2

Description of the lengths of improved highway to be provided under this Order

An irregular shaped length of highway with a maximum length of 41.65 metres and a maximum width of 23.3 metres forming a turning head and footway that extends from a point north-west of the showroom to a point south-west of the workshops of the premises of Ron Skinner & Sons Car Sales, adjacent highway and former Unit 6A Tafarnaubach, Tredegar.

An irregular shaped length of highway with a maximum length of 77.8 metres and a maximum width of 20.5 metres forming a turning head and footway extending south-westwards from a point south-west of the customer car park and showroom of the premises of Ron Skinner & Sons Car Sales, adjacent highway and former Unit 6A Tafarnaubach, Tredegar.

The Development

The change of use of industrial land to car sales, including landscaping and provision of portakabin buildings ancillary to car sales; closure of an existing highway and change of use for car sales, including remodelling of topography and landscaping; and the provision of covered walkways and modified building access ancillary to existing car sales use at Ron Skinner & Sons Car Sales, adjacent highway and former Unit 6A Tafarnaubach Industrial Estate, Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent.

The development has been authorised in accordance with the planning permission granted by Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council on 4 December 2017 under Part 3 of the Act under reference number C/2017/0248.
