THE ACQUISITION OF LAND ACT 1981

COMPULSORY PURCHASE OF LAND AND NEW RIGHTS IN LAND AT MANSFIELD STREET, BELGRAVE GATE AND SANDACRE STREET, LEICESTER

1. Notice is hereby given that the Leicester City Council (“the Council”) made on the 15th January 2018, the Leicester City Council (Belgrave Gate and Mansfield Street Link Road and Improvement Scheme, Leicester) Compulsory Purchase Order 2018 under Sections 239,240,246,249, and 250 of the Highways Act 1980 and Section 13 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982. It is about to submit this Order to the Secretary of State for Transport for confirmation and if confirmed, the Order will authorise the Council to purchase compulsorily the land and new rights described below for the purpose of the construction of new highway and the improvement of an existing highway, the acquisition of new rights by the City Council in connection with the construction and improvement of highways, and the improvement or development of frontages to the new and existing highway or of the land adjoining or adjacent thereto

2. A copy of the Order and the map referred to therein have been deposited at the Leicester City Council, Customer Service Centre, 91 Granby Street, Leicester LE1 6FB and may be seen at all reasonable hours. A copy of the Order and map is also available to view at the following website:

3. Any objection to the Order must be made in writing to the Secretary of State for Transport, Department for Transport, National Transport Casework Team, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 7AR before the 16th day of February 2018 and should state the title of the Order, the grounds of objection and the objector's address and interests in the land. In submitting an objection it should be noted that your personal data and correspondence will be passed by the Secretary of State for Transport to the Council to enable your objection to be considered. Where the Order becomes the subject of a local Public Inquiry (PI), all correspondence is copied to the Inspector conducting the Inquiry and will be kept in the PI library, where it is publicly available. If you do not wish your personal data to be forwarded, please state your reasons when submitting your objection and the Secretary of State will copy your representations, with your name and address removed, to the Council and if there is to be a Public Local Inquiry they will be seen by the Inspector who may give them less weight as a result.
