EAST HERTFORDSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL

REVISIONS TO THE BOUNDARY OF THE WESTMILL CONSERVATION AREA

NOTICE OF DESIGNATION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT East Hertfordshire District Council on 13 December 2017 resolved to make changes to the Westmill Conservation Area boundary under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 sections 69,70 and 71. The Council held a public meeting and exhibition on 11 July 2017 and there was a nine week consultation period (slightly extended at request of the Parish Council) during July/September 2017. The Council had regard to any written representations when making the resolution.

The following additional area has been designated as part of the Westmill Conservation Area:

(a) Minor modification to boundary to rear of The Berries to better reflect physical features on the ground.

The following areas have now been excluded from the Westmill Conservation Area:

(a) Agricultural storage area to east of River Rib being the site of the former railway station.

(b) Nos. 1-4 Wilstone (Wilstone Cottages).

Conservation Area designation provides additional controls which include the general requirement to obtain planning permission to demolish buildings and other structures, to notify in relation to undertaking works to trees and to give an appropriate level of publicity for development. Such controls no longer exist in the excluded areas.

The relevant maps and documents may be inspected free of charge during normal office hours at Council offices, Wallfields, Pegs Lane Hertford SG13 8EQ and at Council offices, Charringtons House, The Causeway, Bishops Stortford CM23 2ER or via the Council’s website www.easttherts.gov.uk
