KING STREET, COVENT GARDEN

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Westminster City Council on 2nd January 2018 made the following Orders under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended:

• The City of Westminster (Prescribed Routes) (No. 1) Traffic Order 2018;

• The City of Westminster (Parking Places) (G Zone) (Amendment No. 48) Order 2018;

• The City of Westminster (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No. 289) Order 2018; and

• The City of Westminster (Motorcycle Parking Places) (Amendment No. 82) Order 2018.

2. The Orders will continue in force indefinitely the provisions of the experimental Orders listed in the Schedule to this notice, the effect of which is to:

(a) prohibit vehicles from entering King Street, Covent Garden between 10.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. throughout the week to create a “Pedestrian Zone”;

(b) replace all existing parking places in King Street, Covent Garden with single yellow line waiting restrictions operating between 8.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. throughout the week; and

(c) make various changes to parking restrictions in Bedford Street, Chandos Place, Drury Lane, Exeter Street, Floral Street, Kean Street, Kemble Street, Russell Street, St. Martin’s Lane, Tavistock Street and Wild Street to accommodate the parking facilities removed from King Street.

3. The Orders, which will come into force on 9th January 2018, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection until 13th February 2018 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays inclusive at WSP, Palace Gardens Suite, 27th Floor, Portland House, Bressenden Place, London, SW1E 5RS.

4. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Orders may, within six weeks from the date on which the Orders were made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.
