REMOVAL, INTRODUCTION AND EXTENSION IN LENGTH

OF DISABLED PERSONS’ PARKING PLACES IN VARIOUS ROADS

(Note: This notice is about the removal of certain disabled persons’ parking places where they are no longer required and the introduction of new disabled persons’ parking places where they are needed. In controlled parking zones, this will involve (a) the introduction of new parking space where the disabled persons’ parking places are removed; and (b) the removal of existing parking space to accommodate the new disabled persons’ parking places. A disabled persons’ parking place will be extended in length in Elms Crescent.)

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Lambeth on 29th December 2017 made the Lambeth (Free Parking Places) (Disabled Persons) (No. 7) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Brixton “B”) (Parking Places) (No. 4) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Brixton “E”) (Parking Places) (No. 2) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Brixton Hill East) (Parking Places) (No. 4) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Brixton Hill “D”) (Parking Places) (No. 2) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Brixton Hill “F”) (Parking Places) (No. 2) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Clapham “C”) (Parking Places) (No. 2) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Clapham “L”) (Parking Places) (No. 4) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Camberwell) (Parking Places) (No. 3) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Herne Hill) (Parking Places) (No. 4) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Kennington) (Parking Places) (No. 5) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Vassall “V”) (Parking Places) (No. 2) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Stockwell) (Parking Places) (No. 4) Order 2017, the Lambeth (Thornton) (Parking Places) (No. 5) Order 2017, the London Borough of Lambeth (Prohibition of Stopping Outside Schools) (Amendment No. 2) Order 2017 and the Lambeth (Waiting and Loading Restriction) (Amendment No. 268) Order 2017, under sections 6, 45, 46, 49 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. The Orders will come into force on 8th January 2018.

2. The general effect of the Orders will be:

(1) to remove the disabled persons’ parking places from the locations specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice;

(2) to introduce new disabled persons’ parking places at the locations specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice (these parking places will operate at any time and be for the use of vehicles displaying a disabled person’s “blue badge” only);

(3) where the locations are in a controlled parking zone, to extend any parking space adjacent to the locations specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice so as to replace the removed disabled persons’ parking places, and to remove any existing parking space at the locations specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice so as to accommodate the new disabled persons’ parking places; and

(4) in Elms Crescent, outside Nos. 141 and 143, to extend the length of the existing disabled persons’ parking place to 8 metres;

(5) in Greyhound Lane, outside No. 56, to remove a disabled persons’ parking place and replace it with a ban on vehicles waiting between 8 am and 6.30 pm on Mondays to Saturdays (inclusive), to be indicated by a single yellow line;

(6) in Hitherfield Road, to revise the layout of the School Keep Clear restrictions outside the entrance to Hitherfield Primary School to accommodate the introduction of two new disabled persons’ parking places (see Schedule 2).

3. The Orders are necessary to remove certain disabled persons’ parking places where they are no longer required, to provide new disabled persons’ parking places so as to improve parking facilities for disabled persons where they are needed and to extend the length of an existing disabled persons’ parking place.

6. If any person wishes to question the validity of the Orders or of any of their provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Orders are made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
