THE ISLINGTON (TAXI RANK) (ELECTRIC VEHICLES) (NO. 1) ORDER 2017

EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER 2017

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Islington on 13 December 2017 made the above-mentioned Orders under Sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The purpose of the Taxi Rank Order will be to introduce new taxi ranks in Central Street, for the waiting of licensed taxis for hire at any time.

3. The general effect of the Taxi Ranks Order will be to, in Central Street:

a) introduce a 5 metre length Taxi Rank on the north-east side, from a point 5 metres south-east of the south-eastern kerb-line of Dingley Street, to a point 10.5 metres south-east of that kerb-line; and

b) introduce a 15 metre length taxi rank on the north-east side, from a point 13 metres south-east of the south eastern kerb-line of Dingley Street, to a point 28 metres south-east of that kerb-line.

4. The general effect of the Taxi Rank (Electric Vehicle) Order will be to introduce a new 10 metre length Taxi Rank on the north-east side of Pemberton Gardens, outside No. 107 Junction Road, for the waiting of licensed electrically powered taxis for hire at any time.

5. The Orders, which will come into force on 22 December 2017, and other documents giving more detailed particulars of the Orders are available for inspection during normal office hours, until 22 June 2019 at the following location:

Public Realm, 1 Cottage Road, London N7 8TP

6. The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Orders should be continued in force indefinitely by means of permanent Orders made under sections 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Any person may object to the making of the permanent Orders within a period of six months beginning with the day on which the Experimental Orders comes into force or, if the Orders is varied by another Orders or, modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification comes into force. Any such objection must be in writing and must state the grounds on which it is made and be sent to Public Realm, PO Box 2025, Pershore, WR10 9BU. Any objection may be communicated to, or be seen by, other persons who may be affected.

7. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made there under has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may make application for the purpose to the High Court by 22 June 2018
