THE QUEEN has been pleased to order a Congé d'Elire to pass the Great Seal of the Realm empowering the College of Canons of the Cathedral Church of St Peter and St Paul, Sheffield, to elect a Bishop of the See of Sheffield, the same being void by the translation to the See of Oxford of the Right Reverend Steven John Lindsey Croft, M.A., Ph.D., lately Bishop thereof; and Her Majesty has been pleased to recommend to the said College of Canons the Very Reverend Peter Jonathan Wilcox, M.A., D.Phil., Dean of Liverpool, to be by them elected Bishop of the said See.
