The Council, acting in their capacity as coastal protection authority, hereby give notice under section 5(1) of the above Act that they propose to carry out coast protection work at Herds Sands Beach.

The work will consist of repair works to the beach access ramp, adjacent to the promenade. The estimated cost of the work is £160,000. Details of the work proposed as well as copies of the relevant shoreline management plan and maps of local flood risk areas can be inspected by appointment between 10:00 and 16:00 Monday to Friday at South Tyneside Council, Town Hall and Civic Offices, Westoe Road, South Shields, NE33 2RL by contacting (0191) 424 7921. Any person may, no later than the 24th of February 2016 may serve a notice of objection to the proposal on the Secretary of State and on the Council. Any such notice must contain a statement of the grounds of objection and must be delivered to or sent by post, fax or e-mail to the Secretary of State and to the Chief Executive of the Council.
