PHIPP’S BRIDGE ROAD WAITING RESTRICTIONS

THE MERTON (WAITING AND LOADING RESTRICTION) EXPERIMENTAL ORDER 2015

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Merton on 30 November 2015 made the above Order under sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended.

2. The general effect of the Order, which will come into force on 11 December 2015 and may continue in force for up to 18 months, will be to introduce double yellow lines “at any time” waiting restrictions in the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this notice.

3. Whilst the Order remains in force, the futureMerton Manager or some person authorised in that behalf by him, may amongst other things under section 10(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, if it appears to him or that person, essential in the interest of convenient, expeditions and safe movement of traffic or for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which any road affected by the Order runs, modify or suspend the Order or provisions thereof.

4. A copy of the Order which will come into force on 11 December 2015 and documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order, including a plan, can be inspected during the Council’s normal office hours Mondays to Fridays inclusive at Merton Link, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey SM4 5DX until the end of a period of six months from the date on which the Order commenced.

5. If the provisions of the Order continue in operation for a period of not less than six months, the Council of the London of Borough of Merton will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Order should be reproduced and continued in force indefinitely by means of a permanent Order. Any person desiring to object to the making of an Order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation may, within a period of six months beginning with the day on which the experimental order came into force or if the order is varied by another order or modified pursuant to section 10(2) of the 1984 Act, beginning with the day on which the variation or modification or the latest variation or modification came into force, send a statement in writing of the objection and the grounds on which it is made to the Environment and Regeneration Department at the Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5DX quoting the reference ES/WR.

6. Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of the Act, or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, make application for the purpose to the High Court.

Phipp’s Bridge Road,

(a) the north and east sides, from a point 4.5 metres east of a point opposite the common boundary of Nos. 176 and 178 Phipp’s Bridge Road to a point opposite the common boundary of Nos. 140 and 142 Phipp’s Bridge Road;

(b) the south and west sides, from a point 1.3 metres east of a point opposite the common boundary of Nos. 176 and 178 Phipp’s Bridge Road to a point opposite the common boundary of Nos. 140 and 142 Phipp’s Bridge Road.
