NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL

ALTERATIONS TO AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT AREAS (AQMAS)

North Lanarkshire Council, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by Section 83(2) of the Environment Act 1995, hereby publishes its intention to alter Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) at Moodiesburn, Chapelhall and Whifflet as follows:—

Moodiesburn AQMA – revoke AQMA at Moodiesburn due to compliance with air quality objective.

Chapelhall AQMA – amend AQMA Order to include breaches of the annual mean objective for Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2).

Whifflet AQMA – amend AQMA Order to include areas of exceedence of annual mean air quality objectives for PM10 and NO2 at Shawhead and Kirkshaws and re-naming of Whifflet AQMA as Coatbridge AQMA to reflect wider area.

Any comments or observations in relation to the revocation should be directed to the Assistant Business Manager (Pollution Control), 453 Main St, Coatbridge, by Friday 24th October 2014. Thereafter the amended AQMA Orders will be prepared and will come into effect in Spring 2015. Maps of the area may be viewed at the Council Headquarters, Civic Centre, Motherwell and also at the Council Offices, 453 Main Street, Coatbridge, ML5 3RS.
