THE NEWHAM (OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES) (NO. 2, 1995) (AMENDMENT NO. 10) ORDER 2014

MADGE GILL WAY CAR PARK, QUEENS’ MARKET CAR PARK, ST. JOHN’S ROAD (EAST) CAR PARK, ST. JOHN’S ROAD (WEST) CAR PARK, SETTLE POINT CAR PARK AND SHAFTESBURY ROAD CAR PARK

  • 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the London Borough of Newham on 17 March 2014 made the above mentioned Order under Sections 32, 35 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
  • 2 The general effect of the Order will be to further amend the Newham (Off-Street Parking Places) (No. 2) Order 1995 so as to introduce a cashless payment system for car park users to pay parking charges by making an appropriate credit/debit card payment by mobile phone or via the internet. A surcharge (initially 15p per transaction plus, if paying by telephone, 10p per confirmation text message and other optional text messages) will apply as a facility fee when making cashless transactions.  Cash payment via “pay & display” machines will continue to be available.
  • 3 A copy of the Order, which will come into force on 24 March 2014, and other documents giving detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection during normal office hours on Monday to Friday inclusive at Newham Dockside, 1000 Dockside Road, E16 2QU for a period of six weeks from the date on which the Order was made.
  • 4 If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement of the Act or any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
