NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 20 November 2009 an application (the “ Application ”) for an order sanctioning a banking business transfer scheme (the “ Scheme ”) under Part VII of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 was issued before Her Majesty’s High Court of Justice by Bank of Ceylon (a company incorporated in Sri Lanka) and Bank of Ceylon (UK) Limited (a company incorporated in England and Wales). The Scheme provides for the transfer to Bank of Ceylon (UK) Limited of the banking business of the London branch of Bank of Ceylon.

A copy of either the Scheme or a statement summarising the terms of the Scheme can be obtained by any person free of charge from Bank of Ceylon at 1 Devonshire Square, London EC2M 4WD Attention: Customer Services or by contacting 020 7880 0122 between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday. Alternatively a copy of the Scheme or the summary statement may also be viewed online at www.bankofceylon.co.uk.

The Application is directed to be heard before a Judge of the Chancery Division at the Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London WC2A 2LL on Thursday 18 February 2010.

Any person who believes that he or she will be adversely affected by the Scheme is entitled to attend and be heard (in person or by legal representative with advocacy rights) by the High Court at the hearing of the Application. Any person who intends to attend the hearing is requested to give notice in writing of such intention and notify his or her objections as soon as possible, and in any event not less than two clear days before the hearing, to the solicitors named below.
