ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14 & 15
THE A19 TRUNK ROAD (LINDISFARNE ROUNDABOUT TO SILVERLINK ROUNDABOUT) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State for Transport has made an Order on the A19 Trunk Road in the Districts of South and North Tyneside to enable the new Tyne Tunnel construction works to be carried out in safety.
The Order will come into force on Sunday 1 June 2008 and will remain in force until the works are completed, an estimated period of 3 years and 8 months.
The works will require lane closures on the A19 between the A184 Lindisfarne Roundabout and the Tyne Tunnel South Entrance Roundabout and between the Tyne Tunnel North Entrance Roundabout and the A1058 Silverlink Roundabout, during which times a 50mph speed restriction will be in force.
It will also be necessary to close the layby situated adjacent to the A19 northbound carriageway approximately 530 metres of the Tyne Tunnel South Entrance Roundabout.
Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day, and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles and vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance purposes).
