WATER RESOURCES ACT 1991
NOTICE OF APPLICATION TO VARY A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that J. J. Davison and Sons of Church Farm, Clifton Campville, Tamworth, Staffordshire, are applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract from the River Mease between SK 2095 1183 and SK 2050 1210 at Croxall/Edingale, between April and September inclusive and to vary existing licence 3/28/23/74 to abstract from the Mease between SK 2427 1147 and SK 2336 1137 at West Brook Farm Lullington. The existing licence authorises abstraction of 909 cubic metres per day and 54, 546 cubic metres during April to September for spray irrigation and 60,454 cubic metres during November to March for storage, subject to a condition restricting abstraction when flows are low. The new licence will be linked to the existing one such that the quantity abstracted from the river during the summer will remain the same, but abstraction during periods of restriction will continue provided that water is discharged from the reservoir. The applicant also wishes to vary licence 3/28/23/74 to abstract an additional 60,000 cubic metres from the Mease during November to March inclusive at a rate of 2,000 metres per day to be stored for subsequent spray irrigation and to include discharge during times of low flow for subsequent re-abstraction as above. An existing licence 3/28/23/92 to abstract 1,200 cubic metres per day and 60,000 cubic metres between November and March from the West Brook (a tributary of the Mease) will be revoked as a result. Also wish to vary the existing licence for the Thorpe Brook, 3/28/23/93 (also a tributary of the Mease) which permits abstractions during the winter for storage in a reservior for subsequent summer spray irrigation. The variation is to allow water to be discharged during April to September from this reservior into the Thorpe Brook at SK 2447 1012 and re-abstract it at SK 2303 1031 for spray irrigation purposes. In all of the above cases the actual quantity abstracted in any one day will not exceed the amount discharged. A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge at all reasonable hours at Church Farm, Clifton Campville, Tamworth, Staffordshire, between 21st September and 21st October 1999. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so, in writing, to the Environment Agency, 9 Wellington Crescent, Fradley Park, Lichfield, before the end of the said period. on behalf of J. J. Davison & Sons. 7th September 1999.
