The Bus Lanes Orders (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2005
Notice is given that the Department for Regional Development made on 4th November 2005 an Order entitled The Bus Lanes Orders (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2005 (S.R. 2005 No. 480) which will come into operation on 1st December 2005. The Order makes permanent the provisions of the Experimental Traffic Control Scheme relating to motorcycles in bus lanes which came into operation on 1st June 2004. The effect of the Order is to permit motorcycles to enter, proceed and wait in most of the bus lanes in Belfast and bus lanes in Ballymena, Carryduff, Castlereagh, Dunmurry and Newtownabbey.
The Order also allows motor cycles to wait in the bus lanes only to enable a person to board or alight from those vehicles and the period of waiting shall not exceed 2 minutes.
This restriction will apply to all the above bus lanes except those in Waveney Road, Ballymena, and the north-easterly bound bus lane in Donegall Road, Belfast.
