What is The King’s Award for Voluntary Service?

The King's Award for Voluntary Service (previously Queen's Award for Voluntary Service) is the highest award given to UK volunteer groups, being equivalent to the M.B.E.

Who were awarded The King's Award for Voluntary Service in 2025?

The recipients of The King’s Award for Voluntary Service 2025 were announced in a special Gazette supplement on Friday 14 November 2025 on the King Charles III's birthday.

A total of 231 charities, social enterprises and voluntary groups from across the UK received the prestigious award. You can view the full list of winners below.

Who is eligible for The King’s Award for Voluntary Service?

The prestigious award recognises exceptional work done by volunteer groups in their communities. To be nominated, a group must:

  • be made up of at least three people
  • be led by volunteers, not paid staff
  • have been running for at least three years
  • be based in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man
  • provide a specific and direct benefit to their local communities

The majority of the group must be volunteers, and more than half the volunteers must have the right to live in the UK.

What do awardees of The King’s Award for Voluntary Service receive?

Recipients of The King’s Award for Voluntary Service receive a certificate signed by the King and a domed glass crystal. Up to two representatives from the group may also be invited to attend a royal garden party.
