Statistics on corporate and individual insolvencies in England and Wales, and related statistics for Scotland and Northern Ireland, for July to September 2017, have been released.
Key findings:
Companies
- Total company insolvencies in Q3 2017 decreased compared with the unusually high level in the previous quarter, when a large number of connected personal service companies entered liquidation.
- Compared with last quarter’s underlying numbers, company insolvencies rose in Q3 2017.
People
- Total individual insolvencies increased in Q3 2017, driven primarily by an increase in individual voluntary arrangements (IVAs), which reached a record high.
