The Queen's Awards for Enterprise 2016

On 21 April, winners of The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise were officially announced in a special Gazette supplement.

In addition to the Birthday and New Year honours, the Queen presents a number of prizes and medals in her own name. The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise is an annual award that recognises both organisations and individuals in the following ways:

Organisations

Three categories of awards are given for outstanding achievement by UK businesses for:

  • innovation: for commercial success as a result of innovation
  • international trade: for growth and commercial success in international trade
  • sustainable development: for commercially successful products, services and management that benefit the environment, society and the economy

These awards are valid for 5 years.

Individuals

This is an award for individuals who have played an outstanding role in promoting enterprise skills and attitudes. Entry is by nomination only, and the award is valid for life.

Winners receive a grant of appointment, a presentational item and the Queen’s Awards emblem.

In July, a representative from the winning organisations, or winning individuals and their nominators, will attend a Buckingham Palace reception hosted by Her Majesty The Queen.
