Q2 insolvency figures released

The Insolvency Service has released insolvency statistics for April to June 2015, detailing insolvency in England and Wales both for companies (company insolvency) and for people (individual insolvency), as well as related statistics for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Key points:

  • The total company insolvencies decreased and were at the lowest level since Q4 2007, mainly driven by a decrease in compulsory liquidations, which fell to the lowest level since Q4 2013.
  • The total number of individuals who became insolvent decreased for the fourth successive quarter, to the lowest level since Q3 2005.
  • The number of bankruptcies, debt relief orders and individual voluntary arrangements all decreased for the fourth consecutive quarter.
  • The number of individual voluntary arrangements was at the lowest level since Q1 2006.
