AMENDMENT OF THE LONDON NIGHT LORRY CONTROL SCHEME

THE GREATER LONDON (RESTRICTION OF GOODS VEHICLES) TRAFFIC ORDER (AMENDMENT NO. 9) ORDER

• 1 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the London Councils Transport and Environment Committee (“the London Councils TEC”) made the above-mentioned Order (“the Order”) on 16 December 2009 under sections 6 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), as amended. The Order will come in to force on 1 January 2010.
• 2 This Order further amends the Greater London (Restriction of Goods Vehicles) Traffic Order 1985 (“the Principal Order”) so that Authorities are no longer required to issue physical permits to exempt vehicles from the prohibition imposed by the Principal Order, and drivers are no longer required to display such permits in their vehicles. The process for obtaining such an exemption remains unchanged. The Order also contains a drafting amendment and makes extensive changes to the Excluded Road Network as set out in the Schedule to the Principal Order.
• 3 The general effect of the Order will be to further amend the Excluded Road Network so as to improve access and routing for Goods Vehicles to restricted areas.

• 5 A copy of the Order and of the Principal Order, as amended, can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays excluding bank holidays and public holidays until the end of 6 weeks from the date on which the Order was made, at The Reception Desk, 59½ Southwark Street, London SE1 0AL.
• 6 Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with may, within the period of six weeks from the date on which the Order was made, apply for that purpose to the High Court.
