NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that William Birch & Sons Ltd, of Link Road Court, Osbaldwick, York YO10 3JQ, is applying to the Environment Agency for a licence to abstract water from a borehole in the Sherwood Sandstone in National Grid Ref SE 6778 4729 at Cannon House Farm, Elvington, York in the parish of Elvington within the Unitary Authority of York. The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates: 60 cubic metres per hour, 1,200 cubic metres per day, 11,750 cubic metres between April and September each year. The water will be used for spray irrigation. This application seeks to replace Licence Serial No 2/27/28/181 which expires on 30 September 2005 and includes a reduction in the annual quantity currently authorised for abstraction. A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours at Link Road Court, Osbaldwick, York, between 20 July 2005 and 20 August 2005.
