PLANNING (LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREA) ACT 1990

Notice is hereby given that the Dover District Council, in pursuance of section 69 of the Planning (Listed Building and Conservation Areas) Act 1990, has on 19 July 2004, designated an extension to the boundary of Dover College Conservation Area, Dover. The extent of the extended area is described below. This is intended as a rough guide only. A detailed plan showing the boundary is available for inspection during normal office hours at the offices of the Strategic Director (Community and Regeneration), Dover District Council, White Cliffs Business Park, Dover, Kent. With effect from 19 July 2004, no buildings or parts of buildings within the area described below may be demolished without the consent of the Dover District Council or the Secretary of State for the Environment subject to the exceptions contained in the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 and clarified by the Department of the Environment Circular 01/2001. Certain trees within the area cannot be felled, topped, lopped or uprooted without the consent of Dover District Council and if the trees are subject to wilful damage or destruction, an offence may have been committed. All planning applications affecting the character of the area shall be advertised and Dover District Council will exercise particular care to ensure that any change, when it occurs, shall preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the area. The existence of the newly designated conservation area will be revealed by the local Land Charges Searches against properties included in this area. The extension to Dover College Conservation Area boundary includes nos 4-14 High Street (even) and nos 2-9 Ladywell (consecutive) and follows the River Stour to join with the previous boundary on High Street and Ladywell. All buildings within this boundary are subject to Conservation Area legislation.
