Notice of application for consent to construct and operate a Combined Heat and Power
generating station at the Port Talbot Works of Corus Strip Products UK Limited.
Notice is hereby given that The Sun Coke Company (“the Company”) has applied under
section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989, for consent of the Secretary of State to construct
and operate a 130 MW Combined Heat Recovery Coke Oven and generating station at the
Corus Strip Products UK Limited, Port Talbot Works, Port Talbot SA13 2NG, and for
a direction, under section 90(2) of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, that planning
permission for the development be deemed to be granted.
A copy of the application, with a plan showing the land to which it relates, together
with a copy of the Environmental Statement, explaining the Company’s proposals in
more detail and presenting an analysis of the environmental implications with a non-technical
summary thereof, may be inspected, during normal office hours, at the following addresses:
Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, Room 322, Neath Civic Centre, Neath SA11
3QZ.
Copies of the Environmental Statement in hard copy format (price £100) or on CD (price
£50) and the Non-Technical Summary (free of charge) may be obtained from:

Any objections to the proposals, stating the name of the power station and the grounds
of the objection, should be made in writing to the Secretary of State for Trade and

not later than Friday 5 November 2004. Unless otherwise indicated, copies of any objections
received will be made available to Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council and The
Sun Coke Company.
