STOPPING-UP OF HIGHWAYS AT WORKINGTON IN THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA

The Secretary of State for Transport gives notice that on the application of WSP Developments, he has made an Order under section 247 of the above Act entitled “The Stopping-Up of Highways (County of Cumbria) (No 8) Order 2004”, authorising the stopping-up of lengths of Edkin Street, Thompson Street, Sanderson Street, Oxford Street, U2650 St John’s Precinct (South and East) and unnamed service roads and footpath. This stopping-up Order is permanent and has been authorised to allow the development in the planning permission granted to Comprehensive Design Architects on behalf of S Harrison Developments (Workington) Ltd by Allerdale Borough Council, on 7 November 2003, under Ref 2/2003/1276. Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Government Office for the North West (Transport), Sunley Tower, Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester M1 4BE (quoting Ref GO/TNW 5049/35/1/70). It may also be inspected at all reasonable hours at the offices of Allerdale Borough Council, Allerdale House, Workington. Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the power of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any Regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 20 May 2004, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any provision contained therein.
