HIGHWAYS (ROAD HUMP) REGULATIONS 1999 AND HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
1. Notice is hereby given that the Council of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets under the Highways (Road Hump) Regulations 1999 and the Highways Act 1980 (as amended by the Road Traffic Act 1991) is considering, as part of the London wide Congestion Charging Scheme, a traffic calming proposal to install speed cushions, speed tables and raised entry treatments in the area of Southern Grove. 2. The general effect of the traffic calming proposals will be to provide: (a) speed cushions on the approach to a new pedestrian refuge in Bow Common Lane to the south-east of Ackroyd Drive; (b) a set of 3 speed cushions by Nos 21-23 Ropley Street, by Nos 12-14 Mossford Street; by Nos 22-24 English Street; in Southern Grove near Derwent House and opposite the southern flank wall of Loweswater House; in Eric Street just north of Mossford Street and just north of Windermere House; (c) speed tables at the junctions of Hamlets Way/Eric Street; Hamlets Way/Southern Grove; Ropley Street/Southern Grove; (d) raised entry treatments in Wentworth Street by Southern Grove and English Street by Hamlets Way. 3. A copy of a drawing showing the proposed traffic calming can be inspected by appointment at the offices of Environment and Culture, Strategic Traffic Section, 60 Southern Grove, London E3 4PN, during normal office hours on Monday to Fridays inclusive until the expiration of a period of 21 days from the date on which this notice is published. 4. Any person desiring to comment on the proposed traffic calming should send a statement in writing to the above address within the aforementioned period of 21 days.
