NOTICE OF APPLICATION FOR CONSENT UNDER SCHEDULE 10
Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Schedule 10 of the Water Resources Act
1991 (as amended by the Environment Act 1995), that the following application (Ref
225/1047) has been made to the Environment Agency, North East Region.
Northumbrian Water Limited has applied for a consent to discharge at Cleasewell Hill
Sewage Pumping Station, Sheepwash, Northumberland.
The nature of the discharge is screened sewage in an emergency from a refurbished
sewage pumping station. The discharge from the pumping station will only occur in
the event of total electrical or mechanical failure when the storage capacity is exceeded.
Standby pumping equipment and a telemetry warning system will be provided at the station.
The effluent will discharge into the River Wansbeck (saline estuary) at National
Grid Ref NZ 2565 8581 through the existing outfall.
A copy of the application may be inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours
at the Agency’s Northumbria Area Office, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle
Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Anyone who wishes to make representation about this application should do so in writing
to the Environment Planning Manager, Environment Agency, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn
Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 7AR, quoting Ref 225/1047, not later than 26 September
2002.
