NOTICE OF APPLICATION TO VARY A LICENCE TO ABSTRACT WATER

Take notice that MAF Pipelines Ltd, c/o MSP Secretaries Limited, 22 Melton Street, London NW1 2BW, are applying to the Environment Agency to vary licence serial number 18/54/20/407 which authorises the abstraction of water from the River Severn at National Grid Reference SO 861 293, near Deerhurst, Gloucestershire. The variation being applied for is to abstract water at the following rates: 100 cubic metres per hour, 1,000 cubic metres a day, 6,000 cubic metres per year between July 2000 and September 2001 and to extend the existing abstraction licence until September 2001 in case of delay to the construction programme. The additional water will be used for mixing drilling mud required to bore a gas pipeline under the River Severn from National Grid Reference SO 863 293 to National Grid Reference SO 853 294 as shown on the map attached to the application. The existing licence authorises the abstraction of 1,062 cubic metres per hour, 18,000 cubic metres per day and 18,500 cubic metres per year and this requirement remains unchanged. The quoted abstraction rates will be restricted during low flow periods at the discretion of the Environment Agency. A copy of the application and any map, plans and other documents submitted with it can be inspected, free of charge, between 0830 to 1700 hours Monday to Thursday and 0830 to 1600 hours on Friday at the Main Reception, Tewkesbury Borough Council, Gloucester Road, Tewkesbury GL20 5TT, between 21st July 2000, and 21st August 2000. Any person who wishes to make representations about the application should do so in writing to the Environment Agency, Lower Severn Area, Riversmeet House, Newtown Industrial Estate, Northway Lane, Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire GL20 8JG, before the end of the said period, quoting the name of the applicant.
