TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990
The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions hereby gives
notice that he has made an Order under section 247 of the above Act entitled “The
Stopping-up of Highways (Borough of Stockton) (No. 1) Order 1999”, authorising the
stopping-up of a length of Darlington Lane, Norton, Stockton-on-Tees to enable the
development described in the Schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance
with planning permission granted to Railtrack PLC by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council,
on 8th January 1999, under Ref. 98/1581/P.
Copies of the Order may be obtained, free of charge, on application to the Secretary
of State at the offices of the Director of Planning, Environment and Transport, Government
Office for the North East, Wellbar House, Gallowgate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4TD
(quoting Ref. G0-NE/99/W0720/35/01) and may be inspected at all reasonable hours at
the offices of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Technical Services Department, Kingsway
House, West Precinct, Billingham.
Any person aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof,
or of any provision contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers
of the above Act or that any requirement of that Act or of any regulation made thereunder
has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of 29th September
1999 apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order or of any
provision contained therein.

Schedule
The planning permission granted is for the creation of Cycleway/Footpath diversion
and erection of new 2.4m palisade fencing. Prior approval application for “filling
in” of existing tunnel at Norton Bridge 160, Darlington Lane, Stockton.
