THE A76 TRUNK ROAD (DUMFRIES) (RESTRICTED ROAD) ORDER 200

The Scottish Ministers hereby give notice that they propose to make the above Order, under section 84(1)(a) as read with section 124(1)(d) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which will have the effect of imposing a 30mph speed limit on the following length of road:

That length of the A76 Dumfries - Kilmarnock Trunk Road at Dumfries from the north channel of the roundabout at the A75/A76 junction in a northwesterly direction to a point 418 metres or thereby northwest of its junction with the U790 Jock’s Loaning, a distance of 1154 metres or thereby.

The Trunk Roads (40 m.p.h. Speed Limit) (Scotland) (No.3) Order 1965(c); The Town Council of Dumfries (40 m.p.h. Speed Limit) (No.1) Order 1965; The Royal Burgh of Dumfries (Restricted Roads) (No.1) Order, 1963; and The Royal Burgh of Dumfries (Built Up Areas) (No.1) Order, 1959 are revoked by this Order.

The Dumfries and Galloway Regional Council (Various Speed Limits) Transitional Traffic Regulation Order 1985 is varied to the effect that the paragraph in the Schedule relating to the A76 is omitted.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the Order which, together with a plan showing the length of road involved, copies of the existing Orders to be revoked or varied and a statement of the Scottish Ministers’ reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be examined free of charge duing normal business hours from 26 April 2005 until 25 May 2005 at the Scottish Executive Enterprise, Transport and Lifelong Learning Department, Network Management Division, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh; and Amey Infrastructure Services Ltd, Marchmount House, Marchmount Avenue, Dumfries DG1 1PY.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send details of the grounds for objection in writing to the Scottish Executive Enterprise, Transport and Lifelong Learning Department, Network Management Division, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, EH6 6QQ quoting reference UM/NSW/D/O/2/9 by 25 May 2005.
