A1 Beech Hill to Cloghogue

In the townlands of Derrycraw, Corgary, Corcreeghy, Carnmeen in County Down, and the townlands of Lisduff, Carnbane, Goragh, Glassdrummond, Derrybeg, Carnagat, Altnaveigh, Lisdrumliska, Carrivemaclone, Cloghoge (Main Portion) and Ellisholding in County Armagh

The Department for Regional Development having complied with Article 67A(7) of the Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 hereby gives notice in accordance with the provisions of Article 67A(8) and (9) of its intention to proceed with the proposed upgrade of the T4 Trunk Road between Beech Hill and Cloghogue.

The general effect of the project will be to provide a dual carriageway extending 7.5 miles (12.1km) between Beech Hill and Cloghogue roundabout, Newry, as part of the Department’s commitment to improve the A1 from Sprucefield to the border to dual carriageway standard. The proposed new length of road will consist of two 7.3 metre wide carriageways, a 4.5 metre wide central reserve and two 3.0 metre wide hardshoulders.
