THE LONDON BOROUGH OF ISLINGTON hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Section 247 of the above Act to authorise the stopping up of the following three areas of public highway which are shown zebra hatched black and marked with the letters “A”, “B” and “C” respectively on the plan attached to the draft Order:

Area A: an area of highway located on Islington High Street 0.87 metres in length and 0.28 metres in width, terminal points from E = 531462.334 N = 183173.200 to E = 531462.319 N = 183172.332.

Area B: an area of highway located on City Road 7.31 metres in length and 0.58 metres in width, terminal points from E = 531464.138 N = 183157.345 to E = 531471.353 N = 183153.834.

Area C: an area of highway located on City Road 5.89 metres in length and 0.45m in width, terminal points from E = 531485.516 N = 183148.183 to E = 531491.164 N = 183146.435.

IF THE ORDER IS MADE, the stopping up will be authorised in order to enable the development described in the schedule to this notice to be carried out in accordance with planning permission granted on 9 December 2022 under reference P2022/0871/FUL in respect of land known as Angel Square, 1 Torrens Street, London, EC1V 1NY.

COPIES OF THE DRAFT ORDER AND THE RELEVANT PLAN MAY BE INSPECTED free of charge during normal office hours (9am until 5pm) at the Town Hall, Upper Street, London N1 2UD or electronic copies can be requested by emailing planninglawteam@islington.gov.uk.

ANY PERSON MAY OBJECT to the making of the proposed order within the period of 28 days commencing on 22 May 2025 by notice to the Director of Law & Governance, Islington Council, 222 Upper Street, London N1 1XR (marked for the attention of Laura Avery) or by email to planninglawteam@islington.gov.uk quoting reference 9943156.

In preparing an objection it should be borne in mind that the substance of it may be imparted to other persons who may be affected by it and that those persons may wish to communicate with the objector about it.

Application for full planning permission for the partial demolition of the existing building, construction of two new floors, reconfiguration of floorspace and renewal of the existing facades to provide new office floorspace (Use Class E), retail floorspace (Use Class E), a replacement public house (Sui Generis), plus new access arrangements, landscaping improvements, new public realm and other associated works.
